Frequently Asked Questions

Q) What makes you different than a pet store?

A) We've worked on these lines of rats for years. Each rat is selectively bred to have a neutral temperament (Aggressive or skittish behaviors is what we breed away from)

We also work on breeding out rats that are susceptible to Upper respiratory infections and tumors!

Pet Stores and Feeder breeders do not do these things, and you're more than likely going to get a pet with at least one of these issues.

Q) Can I adopt a single rat?

A) Unless you have a pre-existing mischief, we do not adopt out single rats. Rats are very sociable creatures and do better in pairs. You cannot replace the company of another rat, no matter how hard you try ;)

Q) Do you take in rescues?

A) We take in previously adopted out rats at our own discretion! We are not a rescue and cannot take in rats that could possibly carry zoonotic diseases that could pass onto our own rats. We are more than happy to assist you in finding a rescue though!

Q) Do you take breeding requests?

A) We do not take breeding requests. We plan litters according to our goals and line progression we already have planned.

Q) Can we come to the Rattery to figure out which rats we would like to take home?

A) We do not allow adopters to enter the Rattery or our house. We meet all adopters outside of our house, even when picking up their newly adopted friends!

We can't take the risk of our rats contracting a transferable illness. It's best that you speak with us about what you're looking for, and we can help you pick out a furry friend to best suit your needs and wants!
